Evil Survival Skill

I noticed that I'm carrying this evil side of me recently.

Sharing my evilness...

It is.. to ignore.

Especially when you enter a new environment, you get to meet new people. Since first impression is very important, the way you portray yourself, actually makes a great deal for yourself in the future. Being very enthu about everything is not going to help you better.

Sometimes, when you are in a group, the person whom usually initiates the conversation will always have things to talk about, whether you like the topic or not. In the case, my group comes with a girl whom loves to gossip a lot. No matter how people can be seen so harmless, she will have things to talk about them. During the exam period, no matter how you wished to concentrate in class and read during lunch hours, her gossips will continue, and you will feel lucky that you aren't the one whom have always responded to her gossips. Becos once you have chose to be nice and followed her conversations, it will be awfully late when you decide to ignore her later.

Another, is availabilty. SMS-ing is always so convenient. Even when they beeped you at the convenience of your time, a favor from a not-so-close-kind-of-friend will best be delayed for a few hours. This happens to my tutee's mom. She was always texting me about many little things regarding her son and sometimes, she even called to seek for a listening ear. I have been evil to ignore or delay replying her sometimes. Till now, though I have quitted tuitioning her son, she has still not quit contacting me. I was rather lucky that I have chose not to be so available to her last time, so now when i wasn't replying to her instantly, it will not make me feel guilty. And it doesn't seem abruptly awful to her too. It seems to be a favor to both sides.

In life, you tend to meet this kind of troublesome people. I realised I tend to attract a lot of them. So, i am currently adopting this kind of evil technique to help make my life a little better. You just don't want to give the wrong impression to someone you don't really wanna be too close with.

*I'm evil only to certain group of unwanted troubles.

Last week of school

I'm coming to the last week of my school.

Didn't I just started school? As it was a one month content upgrading course, almost 5 modules worth of content was loaded to us within one month. I'll be having my final exams this week!

Sounds good that u get paid while u study, but it also means u cannot afford to fail.

I finally managed to get myself more time by stopping 2/3 of my tutees. Will be having the last one this week too, and all tuitions are going to be over!

After that, due to the h1n1 thingy, orientation week was cancelled, so maybe we are lucky enough to have a one week break. And very soon, a new sem will be starting the week after that....

Feeling very different now, but very motivated to earn more money. I have so many things i wished to fulfill! I wan to save up for a DSi, a new hairstyle, more working attires, good dinners with loved ones, pillow's annual vaccinations, overseas trips, and 终生大事 :)

Hope my dream comes true~

Jokers in Life

Was quite surprised to receive a call from a nia friend.

Due to the many assignments and tests to be due next week, the long 4-day weekend rest was meant to help us clear the load. I didn't manage to complete most of the work during the first three days, but my conscience managed to keep me doing several tasks per day, so I won't be faced with the terror of rushing everything in the last minute.

I woke up very early today and forced myself to stay focused on the work, and now at this moment, i have completed nearly 70% of what I should have done.

It was in the evenings and I received a call from one of the new friends i have met in school.

"Eh, I ask u ah.. Tml's test is study until where ah?"
... thinking: (I missed school in Tues, u should know better than me rite?)

"Den, for the test, u study finish alr? I haven't finish study le.."
... (You hoped I say i haven't study too?)

"Den the assignment, how you do ah? I only copy and paste lei..."
... (I didn't came to school that day, and it's you whom told me the format for the assignment and said it's going to be so easy that you can finish in two hours.)

"I think I don't wanna study for that XXXX part liao la.. No time lei.."
... (Oh, okay. You hoped I didn't too?)

"Den when do we need to submit the xxxx work ah?"
... (U are in the same classroom as me, and we heard it's friday.)
"Friday mei? I tot she said wednesday.."
... (You dun believe my answer u ask me for what?)

"I think i go study le, bye."
... (Sounds like I called you while you are busy, sorry to take up ur time.)

Funny lei.

I always wonder how this kind of people whom dunno anything can advance to where we are at now. They sure have some tough luck, haha.

My First Pay Dinner w Vin

Finally received my first pay :)

Celebrated this day with vin at causeway point's swensen's. Wanted to eat at swensen's because there's no other restaurant with a reputable ambience and we had got tired of ichiban boshi.

Had the infamous US fries:
I did a really stupid thing. As we are ordering these fries at a special rate, (discounts with sundae), I realised that my dish, breaded chicken oso have these fries. So, I decided to change to US potatos instead (look like wedges). The waitress said that the US potatos need to take 45mins to be ready, so we had our so called, "potato-of-the-day", and it's mash potato.

This is my dish, with this mash potato, apparently it's a very dry mash of starch. At least KFC gave some sauce to complement with the mash potato rite? I got my tongue and stomach so dehydrated while eating this, and worse of all, it's not very nice too. And the size of the chicken is almost that of Zinger Burger. I should have went to KFC. (FYI: it cost SGD13.90)
Vin had this sambal grilled fish:
The portion is quite pathetic too, as I see that with the same price, i could have eaten a bigger and tastier version of New york fish n chips from Fish & co.

Had this as a side dish: Fried mushrooms
At least this mushroom is very nice, but it's quite ex too, it cost almost the price of this banana split:
I was quite shocked with the portion given in swensen's, as I had a better impression of them last time. Looking around the restaurent, I noticed that many people had ordered Baked rice, spaghetti instead. So, the main course isn't really a very wonderful choice among us now.

Enough of complains XD

Still, I'm real glad that I got to share this feeling of financial independence with someone I love, the first time in my life.

**Pea, let's meet up for dinner too!!**

Congrats to Vin :D

Congratulations to Vin~! :)

Went to vin's graduation last friday, and had a rather special feeling. This time, I am attending his ceremony as a "guest". Well, not really a guest, as I didn't stay for the ceremony.

Had our lunch at the Deck before the ceremony. After 3 years in nus, I finally ordered a big bowl of yongtaofu, of 10 pieces! So many rite? But very nice lei! I regretted I didn't eat this everyday last time haha.
Slurps. I swear that I will come back again to eat this once, or twice more!

Gave vin his graduation prezzie of a photo frame, with our graduating pic taken 2 days ago :) Hope he likes it :)
Went to UCC, and this time, witnessed how vin need help with his robe. It was me a few days ago, haha. The day was clear and sunny, so we came to this "class of 2009" board for the first time. Actually, graduating at noon not bad lei, can take outdoor pics, which are much nicer.

And here, vin threw his mortarboard!
I realised I didnt threw mine. Should I throw this when I go to the photoshoot with my family?

And we came to this "I WAS HERE" icon.

With vin :) One very friendly indian man helped us to take this photo.
Vin's parents came shortly after :)
Vin also took his chance to take photo with this very huge graduating nus lion.
I wonder does anyone actually buys this. I wonder how much will it cost, since the small one like alr half a hundren bucks.
And before I leave, took this with Vin's parents :)
Hope vin had a wonderful and memorable day.

All the best to the commencement of ur new working life this coming Monday! :D

Quite unfortunate that TY could not make it last minute, but she came in the end, with a sunflower. Real thanks, I love sunflower! :)

Very sweet of him, thanks! and best of all, he dressed so smartly, haha.. i likes.

Pea gave me a graduating stitch! Thanks pea, she knows i very "high" stitch recently.

Dun you think stitch is very cute? Though it sometimes remind me of somthing i'm most afraid of: Beetles.

But, i have came to like it so much that I decided that in my newly decorated room next time, i wanna decorate it with Stitch! I wan a stitch jigsaw on the wall, stitch plushies around the room, and stitch stationary, stitch wallpapers on laptop n hp....

Dunno why, just feel very happy when i look at it.

Had our dinner at technoedge, and my family came shortly after. Finally got the chance to introduce the indonesian panggang and uncle soup to my family. They love it :)

With my family :)

Reached ucc, and my slot was the 8pm slot.. so, not bad, can take night photos. Actually nicer than what i have expected :)

With TM, he was with BH, so took this as well:

新学期

明天开学了~~~

我就像一个重新回到学校上课的小孩,兴奋着。

今晚要pack bag, 准备明天要穿的衣服,也想用新的文具与笔袋~

好像很新鲜。

但是,新鲜总是只能维持一星期。

新しい生活ができて、どきどきしているんけど、今回も頑張っていマス!

Busy!!!!

Quick re-cap of the day:

Woke up damn early to try to reach boon lay interchange by 8am. Was supposed to meet XY and SR, but XY was late, and saw SR and her friend, and YW instead. Can't let SR and her fren wait, cos we'll be late for class, so we let YW waited for XY instead.

SR and her fren YT, was two frens i made today. I met SR in the moe interview, and we got the same course. Knew YT, the taiwanese, thru SR.

Had a 70 plus year old instructor for today, but she looked very "genki" and not old at all. Enjoyed her lessons.

Had a tea break, saw many people from nus.

Went back for class, and had a lunch break.

During lunch break, my nia teacher cum adminstrator called.

[conversation in mandarin]
"Can you tell me more about the XXXXX module that u have took in nus?"

I told her.

She said, "Actually, you can be exempted from one module. But out of 115 ppl, only you can be exempted from this one module, can u please jus go for the module?"

I said, "But since i am exempted, can i dun go?"

"But it's a very impt module, can you please jus go? If not, very mafan.."

I said, "But, i alr took this module in nus, and since i'm exempted, can i dun go?"

She replied, "It's very impt, r u sure u are confident in this? Since u alr learnt, it should be easy for u, and u'll have no problems for exam, so why not go for it?"

I said, "Ok...."

Walao eh.. force ppl one lei..

Cannot exempt in the first place then got this exemption exercise for wat??????!!!!

So, from next week onwards, for a month, I'll have the heaviest study timetable i ever had.

Mon: 1hr40min lecture + 1hr40min lecture + 1hr40min lecture + 1hr40min lecture [4 lectures]
Tue: 1hr40min lecture + 1hr40min lecture [2 lectures]
Wed: 1hr40min tutorial + 1hr40min tutorial + 1hr40min tutorial [3 tutorials]
Thur: 1hr40min lecture + 1hr40min lecture + 1hr40min lecture [3 lectures]
Fri: 50 min tutorials + 50 min tutorials + 50 min tutorials [3 tutorials]

Can die.

3/5 days will be study from 8:30am till 5:30pm.

On top of that, tues, weds, thur, fri, sat got tuition at night after classes.

i miss holidays!!! =(

24 June 2009

a peek

I finally get to meet my classmates today.

Wa.

80% of them are almost the age of our parents.
More than 60% of them are foreigners.

With this wide diversity of students, I suddenly wander how orientation will be like.

Unfortunately, or luckily, our group will not be posted to any schools for next week. We have to take 3 modules during this month, since most of us have lost in touch with the textbook syllabus. Also, most of these 3 modules, I have took it in nus! So this means, I could be exempted!

Teacher of the day also mentioned that some of us may have unexpected holidays.

O.o

Tml, will be going for the 2 day course programme. Hope to learn some useful classroom management skills~
